Dubia is a shingler: juvenile leaves press flat and overlap. Without a board, the plant wanders and loses its form.
Use wood, compressed coco, or moss. Keep that surface lightly moist while the potting mix stays airy.
As it matures, Dubia leaves the board and produces divided blades. Many growers cut it back to keep the juvenile, wall-hugging look.
